Court representation

England and Wales has two types of criminal court that need concern somebody facing prosecution: the magistrates court and the Crown Court. All criminal cases will at least pass through the magistrates court even if they are destined for trial in the Crown Court.

Magistrates courts will try less serious offences, such as drink driving, careless driving, most thefts, criminal damage, harassment, less serious assaults, etc. The Crown Court will try more serious offences such as dangerous driving, more serious assaults, rape, murder, etc.

Whatever you are accused of and wherever your trial is to be heard, our job is to work for you to achieve your objective in the litigation whether that is an acquittal or merely limiting the damage to you caused by a guilty plea.

We do this by supporting you through the process from charge to acquittal. We will examine the evidence, advise you on your options and help you achieve your objectives.

It is important that you are represented in court by an advocate appropriate to your case. This might mean somebody who is a specialist in a particular type of offence; you’ll typically find advocates who specialise in things like motoring, fraud, and sexual offences. In many cases, it is more important to have somebody who can put your case effectively because they are a specialist advocate rather than a specialist in any particular area of law.

We will recommend the right advocate for your case and work with both you and them to resolve your case successfully.
